It was class 9 and Shakespeare was being introduced for the first time.“As You Like it” being a love story, the most obvious question first - what do you mean by love? Some replied it’s a sensational feeling, some said it’s a strong liking, some giggled and felt coy enough to answer. I answered “Love is just inexplicable, it cannot be defined, neither can have a specific meaning”. Love for everyone can have a different meaning. True love is not about the hugs and kisses, but about the chills that run through the spine. It’s not necessary that love has to be restricted to a couple only. It can be the love of a patriot towards his nation, a sportsman towards his sport, a hardworking man towards his job. Love is dedication, it is madness, it is sacrifice, it is bearing the pain and facing all the odds to overcome defeat and achieving something towards the goal of his/her love. Love is never a weakness, it is always one’s strength. If it becomes your weakness it never was love. It is more of a game which once starts never ends.
Love is often confused with like, lust and infatuation. You don’t start loving, neither do you decide to love, it just happens, it’s an involuntary emotion. Love is a long term emotion. Infatuations and liking always happen, their impact is lesser. A lover is strong enough to let her go, for her happiness.
“Love is always patient and kind. Love is never boastful nor conceited. It is never rude or selfish it does not take offense and it is not resentful, love takes no pleasure in other people's sins but it is always ready to excuse to trust to hope and to endure whatever comes.”
Love is more of an involuntary process, I see people trying to get into love, to find someone they can love. But being the old school I am, I shall always support the ideology of love being an involuntary process, just like the heart pumping blood in our human body, I believe that forcing your mind to find someone to “love” is more of a desire to be socially accepted among one’s peer group or is just simple infatuation. True love is the state you are in when you feel connected, attached, and happy with someone/something. It is a place where you feel a permanent sense of connection with someone/something else, regardless of what happens.”
